Ilam and Sonoda Apartments = better flats. They are modern, apartment-style complexes with a range of self-catered apartments for you and your friends. You can't get a much better location, across the road from UCSA carpark, off Homestead Lane, while Sonoda is on the College of Education campus.

There are a range of apartment styles to choose from with decent prices to match, and options for two to six bedroom apartments. Apartments come with fully furnished bedrooms, kitchens, lounges and dining rooms. And perhaps the best news - there is a cleaner for the communal areas of your flat.

You will need to sign a Residential Agreement contract for your room within the flat, which includes the shared use of common space areas. The contract you sign is between yourself and UC Accommodation.

The least expensive flat is just $169 per week - and that covers rent, power and furniture. The all-inclusive weekly price also includes fortnightly cleaning of communal areas and maintenance. You can pay upfront for the full contract, in two or four installments, or by fortnightly direct debit.

Open all year round, the Apartments offer a minimum contract period of 50 weeks and good summer rates if you want to stick around and enjoy the Christchurch summer sun.

It means you can move in with your clothes and personal stuff and you're ready to go. Your room has a bed, desk (most have a phone in each room or one per flat), an internet port, heating, lights and heaps of cupboard space. We can even sort your bedding out if you need us to. In your flat you'll find a fully equipped kitchen, lounge with couches, tv, coffee table and dining table. You'll either have a washing machine and dryer in your flat or you'll be given access to the communal laundry.

Any tertiary students can apply to live at UCA. We have residents from UC, CPIT, Natcoll, D&A, NZ Institue of Sport, Aviation College and the list goes on!

Yes you can. Alternatively, if you're looking to meet new people, we can place you with flatmates. We'll work hard to ensure you have as much in common with them as possible.

Yes, wireless internet access is available across the University and all of UCA. University of Canterbury Students: All students will receive 100GB per month as part of their University agreement. An internet account will be activated on payment of University fees and can be topped up as required at a cost of $2 per GB. Other Students: 2 degree wireless will be available. A pay as you go account will need to be set up on arrival.

No. Ilam and Sonoda Apartments are for students who want to live in an independent flatting environment so there aren't any RAs. We've got friendly staff on site at the Ilam office from 8am Mon - Fri and also at the Sonoda office during the afternoons Mon - Fri to answer any questions you might have, in the evenings UC security is available. We also have live-in staff that are just minutes away if there is a real emergency.

No pets are allowed at Ilam and Sonoda Apartments. There are ducks in the gardens to make friends with though.

If you notice something like your fridge has stopped randomly, you can log an online fix-it request and we'll arrange for it to be fixed.
